THE NEW AGE OF TURKISH WINE
....A real, serious wine industry is emerging nowadays in Turkey, with ambitious new producers and wine makers, a more knowledgeable, demanding consumer audience and fine dining restaurants with better wine lists. That spontaneous wine initiative, Renessans if you prefer (starting mid-late 90s) has grown exponentially in the last 20 sth. years despite everything. Right now, there are more than 50 new producers who emerged in these controversial times, growing and making more and more mature and sophisticated wines. Ayda, Urlice, Arda, Corvus, Arcadia, Usca, 7 Bilgeler, Chamlija, Gürbüz, Kalpak, Perdix, Şatomet, Sobran, Umurbey, Yanık Ülke etc. to name the few.
They are tiny compared to their ‘old world counterparts’, as production volume, but they do make interesting, original wines – some made from revitalised indigenous Vitis Vinifera varieties. Foça Karası, Acıkara, Kösetevek, Karasakız, Aküzüm etc…

Who we are?
United Wine Lovers (UWL for
short) is a wine enterprise attempted by a small collective of wine loving
people, some already in the wine business some in the business of daily wine
drinking, tasting and learning. We love the wine not just for its taste and the
beautiful, uplifting state of mind it brings you, but also for its countless
extensions, its diverse culture, its ability to transfer you to a place far
away and lets you taste its unique soils, winds and sun. No need to say we are
loving it and we had and have the opportunity to taste some original, exciting
wines from less known wine countries and region.
